5. Instagram is estimated to have brought in $1.53 billion in global mobile ad revenue in 2016, which is a 144 percent increase year-over-year and would amount to 8.4 percent of Facebook’s global mobile ad revenue according to International Business Times.
6. eMarketer projects that Instagram’s global mobile ad revenues will reach $2.81 billion this year, accounting for over 10 percent of parent company Facebook’s global ad revenues.
7. This year, 70.7% of U.S. companies will use Instagram for marketing, edging out Twitter for the first time.
8. 50% of Instagram users follow at least one business.
9. 60% of users say that they have learned about a product or service on the platform.
These Instagram stats and numbers speak for themselves: This social platform is a must for building your brand and business. If you’re new to Instagram or looking to increase your followers and engagement, here are various tips that can help you maximize your Instagram exposure.
► The profile
Although it sounds like “truism”, you would be surprised by the number of people who don’t have their profiles complete.
If you want to generate relationships and engagement with your followers and community, you should count with a fully completed profile, remember that your profile picture and Bio is the first impression that your potential new followers will have of you. That being said, upload a picture and complete your bio if you haven’t done so yet.
► Profile picture
Its a little ironic that being the #1 photo sharing social network there are still accounts that don’t count with a profile picture.
Take advantage of the potential of this social network and select a photo that can define you or your business perfectly and one that will help you increase your number of followers in Instagram.
► Your BIO description
150 characters is a lot of space to briefly describe yourself or business.
Do your best to explain what you do and don’t forget to add icons, emojis, call to actions and some #hashtags.
If you have a website, blog, or business don’t forget to add your link in the link space. This is the only place that you are going to be able to add a link. Instagram doesn’t let you post links anywhere else.
If you have a website or blog your profile is the best place to promote it!
If you don’t count with a website or blog you can always use the link space to include any of your other social media networks like your Twitter handle, Facebook page, Pinterest profile etc.
► Photo quality
Remember, Instagram is a complete visual network, it will be suitable that our photos have a minimum of quality.
If your desire is to step up in your Instagram strategy, take better photos.
I don’t mean that you have to start taking 20 minutes to take a single snapshot or take 8 hours to upload 6 or 7 images to Instagram, that’d be throwing away your normal life (unless you get paid to post) but I’m pretty sure you get the point.

According to a report conducted at Georgia Tech, humans are more drawn to photos that feature the face, a REAL face. In fact, of 1.1 million randomly-selected Instagram photos analyzed with face detection software, those with faces were 38% more likely to get Likes and 32% more likely to get comments.
► Don’t get hung up on likes
“Stay calm and don’t panic over the number of likes your pictures get at the beginning, observe and find what you like. Don’t get stuck with what others think is good, or what type of images get the most likes. Otherwise, you’ll end up chasing sweet but ordinary visuals, even thought your talent lies in storytelling, humor or compelling portraiture.
Remember this: Be calm, surreal and stay humble.”
While hashtags were first used in Twitter nowadays every social network uses them and Instagram is one place you can really use them, I mean you can use as many as 30 hashtags per post and you won’t be considered a spammer like in other social networks. Hashtags are equally as important as the title and caption you add to your photo.

I wish I had the secret code to tell you exactly how many times you should post per day but the reality is that there isn’t a specific number of posts since this is going to depend on various factors.
I know and follow some accounts that publish between 5 to 6 post per day and some who just publish 1 a day or less, and it works fine for all of them.
It’s all a matter of trying different stuff everyday and innovate.
The best way to draw conclusions is by trying and analyzing.
